Investigation of Synergetic Effect of Adsorption and Photocatalysis for the Removal of Tetracycline by BiFeO3 Immobilized on Copolymer Seeds

The utilization of powdered photocatalysts can cause problems such as agglomeration and difficulty in separation conventional applications. In this work, deposition photocatalyst particles on a co-polymeric network was suggested to solve issue. For purpose, ferrite type perovskite BiFeO3 were immobilized the sulphonated polystyrene-divinyl benzene seeds via facile impregnation process heterostructured catalyst (BFO@co-STR/DVB) exhibited boosted removal performance towards tetracycline antibiotic. co-polymer itself showed attractive adsorption (93% removal) due robust π–π stacking or hydrophobic relationship. photocatalytic optimal BFO@co-STR/DVB had greatest value apparent rate constant (0.037 min-1), which 6.16 times higher than that for bare (0.006 min-1). Moreover, displayed highest catalytic efficiency 98.5% mainly assigned synergetic effect photocatalysis. Therefore, detailed mechanism examined by applying three kinetic models pseudo-second order model (qe=88.9 mg/g; R2=0.993) fitted well describing adsorption. impact amount polymer structure also investigated.
